Careful restoration brought new life to the lodge and its adjoining barns, blending heritage conservation with contemporary design to create a setting that feels both timeless and alive.

The project's pivotal moment came when a simple site visit revealed a medieval roof structure hidden behind a modern flat ceiling - a feature unknown to the owners and not recorded in the official listing. This discovery unlocked the oldest section of the building and informed the design of the space.

Original stonework, hand-hewn timbers, and vaulted ceilings narrate the building’s past, while glass, steel, and refined detailing enhance its character for contemporary use. Modern amenities, including underfloor heating, were carefully concealed to maintain historical integrity without compromising comfort.

At the heart of the venue stands a beautifully reimagined barn, its rustic oak beams and castle-like façade recalling the estate’s noble lineage.

The arrangement of restored and new forms creates grand yet intimate spaces, with terraces and wide openings framing the rolling parkland beyond. The landscape itself is part of the venue experience: fire pits glow at dusk, open-fire cooking connects guests with seasonal produce, and long views across ancient oaks provide a quintessentially English backdrop.
